We seek a person with experience in remote area fencing and vermin control for the position of Dog Fence Patrol Officer for Mulgathing in the NW pastoral area of South Australia. Located in the Glendambo region and west from the Stuart Highway, the station covers 530,000 hectares and runs up to 30,000 Merino sheep. Situated in 175mm rainfall country, it is well resourced with the station divided into 80 paddocks watered by 32 bores and 156km of pipeline servicing the numerous watering points.
The Dog Fence Patrol Officer reports directly to the station manager. You will primarily be responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and repair of the Dog Fence that runs around the property. Additionally, you will be required to routinely set and check vermin traps, engage in pest management as required and monitor the various livestock watering points along your route. Those with experience with farm / station fencing and who hold a current firearms license are well suited.
The position is highly independent and suits a resourceful person, experienced at living and working in remote and isolated places. You will need to be an experienced fencer, skilled at using a 4WD off road and use of a chainsaw along with use of herbicide and pesticide. As the position requires you to be camped out during the week, confidence in the bush is a must.
