We seek an experienced Wild Dog Control Officer on a 6-month contract on a full-time basis at Rawlinna Station. Rawlinna is located on the western side of the Nullarbor, 4 hours’ drive east of Kalgoorlie in WA. The station is well developed, maintained and resourced and covers 2.5 million acres, running up to 65,000 Merino sheep at capacity in 230mm average rainfall country. The Wild Dog Control Officer reports directly to the station manager.
Your primary focus will be to effectively manage wild dog and wild dog activity across the property while ensuring a high level of bio-security is maintained. This primarily involves eradication by means of baiting, trapping and shooting. Practical experience in these areas, preferable on other stations, will be expected.
You will need to be highly autonomous and independent and the job suits a resourceful person; experienced at living and working in remote and isolated areas and familiar with station life. You will have a Western Australian gun license, be skilled at using a 4WD off road and as the position requires you to be camped out regularly, confidence in the bush is a must. Knowledge of modern trapping and hunting practices and feral pest management is required.
A competitive wage is available, in line with experience. While the position is initially a 6-month contract, the opportunity for extension exists for the right person.
Please include a Cover Letter and current Resume including references with your application.
