The McCoys Well leases were purchased in 1970, with two more – now making up the station – bought in 1985 and 86.
The area is excellent for growing Merinos. Mustering and droving is predominantly done on 2-wheel motorbikes, with fixed-wing aircraft support used occasionally. Shearing, crutching and lamb marking make up the busiest times in the year, but windmill, bore, vehicle and fence maintenance is ongoing.
Nearby social events are well-attended with Yunta and Peterborough under an hour away, Broken Hill and Port Augusta around two hours by car and Adelaide under 4 hours. Key events include:
- The Yunta Picnic Races and Gymkhana
- Peterborough Rodeo
- Port Augusta Cup
- Broken Hill St. Patricks Race Day
- White Cliffs Music Festival
The station, along with nearby Mount Victor, are close to the famed Barossa and Clare Valley wine regions along with the iconic Flinders Ranges.
